"Penny of Time" Adventure: Story Time

On days where one (or more) of us is under the weather (like today), it would be nice to have some books on hand that have a theme centered on service.  Just a couple of books would be great, and even if we read them over and over, there is no end to the type of conversations that we can have for our "penny of time" adventure through a book.

We love reading The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein.  It is a clear example of how one can give to another and a great way to help us talk about those that serve us, help us.

Here is a list of links to book lists that have tried to pull together lists of books related to service.  I'm going to try and build up the books that I have, too.

We also get a publication called "The Friend" that has many stories on service.  Here is one from this month's issue called Baseballs and Service.

Today, after we read through The Giving Tree, I remembered a video that floated around on facebook during the last holiday season and watched it with my son:

Although my little guy is limited verbally, we had some great continued conversations throughout the day on giving.

What books do you suggest using to help focus on service?
