"Joy Day" . . . a full day of "Pennies of Time"
Today, we woke up super-DUPER-early . . . and, well, I'd like to say it was on purpose, but my four year old woke up with a mission to get the day going. So, we joined in on the early riser's purposeful play.
We planned to make this a day of giving. Everything that we were planning was about someone else, caring for someone else, providing for someone else, and thinking of someone else.
I won't outline everything that we did. That would give it away because we did it ALL in secret. We loved it because Dad was in on the action all day long.
(I did have to remind the boys about the purpose of today if they saw something they wanted and started to wax eloquently on "why I need to have that" . . . and we did have to talk about how "when you fight in front of the person you are trying to serve you kill the good feeling that you were trying to bring that person" . . . that conversation really made my 6 year old pause.)
How I get the ideas of what do to for our secret acts today? I copied others. Totally. If you search for "random acts of kindness" or look at the "pennies of time" pinterest boards, you will find ideas that can be used to fit your children.
At the end of the day, this JOY DAY, we were energized and tired all at the same time! What a marvelous experience!
