Today, for our "Penny of Time" I asked them how we help people that live far away from us when they are sad.
For us, that means that we pray for them, that we keep them in our thoughts, and that we try to send notes of love and encouragement.
I told them that a whole town is sad right now and explained about Hearts of Hope for the town. The boys really liked the idea of sending notes in the shapes of hearts to help those that are sad. (Note: I did not mention how the children died. I did mention that many families lost their children in a sad event. That was all they needed to know, and they didn't question our purpose in helping out people that lost their children.)
And, now to mail them!
